Instant Deployment of Load Generators

With CloudTest Grid, performance engineers can deploy hundreds, or even thousands of load servers around the globe in a matter of minutes. The servers are automatically spread across locations to meet the requirements of each specific test, and the Grid takes care of all error checking and fail-over to replace any bad instances or get additional capacity from other locations, as needed. Once deployed, the servers are monitored throughout testing to track their health and ensure the Grid is operating as expected.

Location-based Analytics

CloudTest Grid works seamlessly with CloudTest Analytics, providing location specific information to present actionable results in real-time dashboards. CloudTest Analytics’ unique Activity Map, which uses the Google Maps API to plot load server and target locations, displays key test metrics, such as average response time and error rates, in their geographic contexts to provide a compelling end-to-end view of performance. The Activity Map shows location-specific information including Cloud provider name, the number of virtual users, region, script errors and server instances.

The SOASTA CloudTest Grid is the result of having deployed hundreds of thousands of servers in the Cloud to load and performance test many leading consumer-facing websites. The requirement to rapidly deploy and tear down large numbers of servers was the impetus for SOASTA to be an early adopter of the Amazon Web Services API. SOASTA has since used that experience to work with other Cloud providers including CA/3Tera, IBM, Microsoft and Rackspace in building the Grid.
