During the installation of SOASTA Conductor, the SOASTA Conductor Capabilities screen is displayed so that you can alter the default capabilities settings. There are three sets of capabilities to choose from, each proceeded by an “Allow” checkbox. These are:
Monitoring can only be enabled or disabled, but both Recording and Web UI/Ajax testing have additional options available. |

The Recording capability allows you to disable HTTP and HTTPS recording. Please note: SOASTA Conductors installed with this checkbox unchecked cannot be used in for this purpose. |

An associated edit box allows you to control the HTTPS recording proxy port. Because HTTPS traffic is encrypted, HTTPS recording uses a “proxy”. During HTTPS recording, your browser is automatically set to direct its traffic to this proxy, which records the traffic and then forwards the traffic on to the intended destination. In order to talk to this proxy, the browser and proxy must agree on a port number. The default setting should work fine. However, if this port number is already in use for some reason it is possible the port number will need to be changed. |

The Web UI/Ajax testing capability gives you the choice to allow or disallow this type of testing. Un-checking this box prevents the SOASTA Conductor from being used for Web UI/Ajax testing. |

The list displays the supported browsers for your environment (in this example, a Mac with the OSX system). |

Web UI/Ajax testing uses a proxy much like the one for the HTTPS recording capability. As with the HTTPS recording capability, you may need to change this port number if this port is already being used for another purpose. |

The checkbox for Multi-Window Ajax Support, located under the WebUI/Ajax testing port capability, controls the type of window in which browser actions are run. Typically browser actions run in an embedded iframe. Checking this checkbox runs browser actions without using an embedded iframe. |

The only option available for the Monitoring capability is to disable monitoring. SOASTA Conductors installed with this checkbox un-checked will not be allowed to participate in monitoring. |
