Steps

Running a Browser Action Test on Multiple Browsers requires the following steps:

You must first create a new Test Composition.

Go to the SOASTA Central Repository page and choose Test Compositions on the left.

Press the “New” button.

When the Composition Editor opens, find the Test Clip that you want to run in the Composition Editor at the bottom of the page.

Double-click on the Test Clip in the Clip Editor to add it to the Test Composition. It will be added to the first track.

Click on the blue track name area to select the Track.

Click on the “Copy” button.

Click on the “Paste” button three times.

The Test Composition now has four copies of the same Test Clip, one on each track.

At the bottom of the page, click on the “Properties” button.

The Properties screen will open showing a tree of the components of the Test Composition.

This is where you will set the information about which SOASTA Conductor and which browser will run each Test Clip.

Click on the target item under the first Test Clip in the tree.

The target’s system properties will be shown on the right.

Click on the drop-down menu next the SOASTA Conductors and you will see a list of all the available SOASTA Conductors. Choose a SOASTA Conductor that is running on a Windows machine. In this example, you we have a SOASTA Conductor named “Dell Conductor” which is running on a Dell PC.

Click on the drop-down menu next to the browsers. Choose the Internet Explorer browser.

Click on the target item under the second Test Clip in the properties tree to edit its properties.

Choose the same SOASTA Conductor you chose for the first target and choose the Firefox browser.

Click on the target item under the third Test Clip in the properties tree to edit its properties.

Choose a SOASTA Conductor that is running on a Mac and choose the Safari browser. In this example we have chosen the SOASTA Conductor named “MacPro Conductor”.

Click on the target item under the fourth Test Clip in the properties tree to edit its properties.

Choose the same SOASTA Conductor you chose for the third target and choose the Firefox browser.

Save the Test Composition by clicking on the “Save” button in the main toolbar.

A dialog will open where you can name the Test Composition.

Press the “Play” button and your test will be executed on 2 different machines running 2 different browsers each.
